Thanks for visiting and serving us together. Established in 1999 and 2003 respectively, our collective store's mission is to "bring the best to the best". We are proud to support the Morale Health and Recreation (MWR) programs for various branches of the military service. Specifically, we contribute 2.5%-8% of the total sales of all items that we produce to these programs. The percentage is determined by the service branch agreements, the types of products sold and the channel (retail or wholesale) through which the products are distributed. The Veterans Administration, in its list of authorized tombstone emblems, was a pioneer in recognizing various beliefs. They recently added the hammer of Thor, called the Mjolnir (crusher), to fulfill the wishes of strong worshipers of pagan (Ásatrúar) beliefs. They also include other pagan symbols, Jewish, Native American, Sikh, atheist, and humanitarian emblems. Although the list goes on, the VA seems to receive and process applications without the bias of accommodating all beliefs.
Although MAF has been accused of placing religious symbols on personal graves, this has never been the case. MAF applauds the actions of the Department of Veterans Affairs to treat all beliefs equally and honor the wishes of veterans and their families. The Department of Defense currently does not allow humans to identify as Humans in their official records, but if a humanoid dies, they can be buried under a humanoid headstone.
Although outreach to national leaders was unsuccessful, local Veterans Administration offices in San Diego and West Palm Beach worked with local humanists to ensure equal treatment of humanists. In addition, the VA has taken steps to protect veteran families from unwanted proselytizing by VA volunteers.

The VA requires some outside pressure. On behalf of Circle Sanctuary and the Wiccan family who died in combat, Americans United for Separation of Church and State successfully sued to add the Wiccan Pentacle in 2007. Even then, there were 38 icons with more approved, and it appears that the Pentagram suffers from a special resistance. The constant use of the badge shows its need.
(Added 7/13) Commenter Ryan Jane noted, "Crane's article marks another milestone, involving the nation's first veteran to receive permission to bury her same-sex husband in a national cemetery as a result of DOMA's collapse ." In fact, the article states that VA policy has not changed, but free burial has been introduced as an individual case. It refers to Sandhill Crane, which they say "is the perfect expression of their relationship". This is an amazing development because it is not an organized religious expression, but rather a personal motto for their relationship.
It should be noted that debates in Congress about the legality of religious symbols on public monuments have also referred to the VA's emblem listing. Across the country, Christians are trying to secure the right to display crosses and shrines on federal lands. A proposal was made to pass a bill to allow religious symbols as long as all VA symbols are allowed. This was quickly rejected when it was found out how many symbols should be included on each monument. The sense of secular government becomes evident when we see true diversity of faith in society and not just the propaganda of monolithic Christian culture.
The addition of Thor's Hammer shows a commitment to diversity. The variety in this case may be called Ásatrúar, heathen or neopagan. It is all too easy in modern times to dismiss ancient beliefs as myths, but this case - personal tombstones - is a place for embedding and dwelling. There are currently 57 options (50 skipped, formerly Scientology?), up 50% from 2007. This also includes the Unification Church, also known as Moonies. Many consider the church a dangerous cult, but in the absence of formal legal sanction, the Department of Veterans Affairs provided accommodation. Just over half of the symbols are from Christian traditions, but the rest include Native American, Pagan, Sikh, Sufi, Zoroastrian, Baha'i, Buddhist, Atheist, Humanist, and more.

The secular government shows no hostility to belief, but neutrality. This enables personal expressions, such as rough signs, to be very widely assimilated without judging the content of the belief.
